Madrid to bid farewell to the most decorated player in women’s padel history at the P1: Alejandra Salazar’s farewell

Premier Padel

September 6 will be a landmark day in the history of padel. Beyond the sporting action, the Movistar Arena will rise to its feet between the women’s and men’s finals to bid farewell to Alejandra Salazar, one of the sport’s greatest legends. The Madrid-born player will begin the final stage of her professional career in Madrid, her home city, where she will take to the court for the last time before retiring at the end of the year.

For more than two decades, Salazar has played a defining role in the growth and transformation of women’s padel, winning 62 official titles, seven World Championships (2010, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2021, 2022 and 2024) and reaching world No. 1 four times (2009, 2016, 2021 and 2022). Her influence, however, extends far beyond her achievements on court. Salazar has inspired thousands of girls to dream of reaching the highest level and has become a role model for several generations of players across the professional game.

The tribute to Alejandra Salazar will take place on Sunday, September 6, between the women’s final, scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m., and the men’s final, which will begin no earlier than 5:30 p.m. The farewell ceremony will be held on Centre Court and will feature several surprises, to be revealed as the special moment draws closer.
