SAPA Outlines its plans for 2026

A new era of structure, rankings and opportunity is coming to South African padel.

As the sport continues its explosive growth, the South African Padel Association (SAPA) is putting the building blocks in place for a more structured national competitive pathway in 2026.

At the heart of the plan is a national tournament calendar and official ranking system, supported by 4M Padel. Players will be able to track sanctioned events, earn ranking points and compete their way through a structured tournament system spanning Major, Gold, Silver and Bronze events.

A new SAPA playing licence will also give players access to sanctioned competitions, while clubs and organisers will have the opportunity to host ranking events and become part of the national calendar.

But SAPA says the bigger picture goes beyond rankings. The long-term vision includes stronger regional development, junior pathways, national team selection and ultimately connecting South African players to international competition.

With the system still in its first year, there will undoubtedly be lessons to learn and refinements to make, but 2026 could mark an important step towards giving South African padel the structure it needs to grow.
